RESPECT Presented at the “Sport & Empowerment of Youth with Disabilities” Conference
On February 12, 2025, KEAN – Cell of Alternative Youth Activities, in collaboration with OPANDA (Athens Culture, Sports & Youth Organization), organized the conference “Sport & Empowerment of Youth with Disabilities,” as part of the Erasmus+ project RESPECT: Recognizing Sport as a Powerful Tool for Inclusion.
The main objective of the project is to promote social inclusion of young people with disabilities (aged 18–25) through sports activities. The project aims to provide these young people with opportunities to develop physical and social skills, increase self-confidence, and interact with peers and coaches in a positive and supportive environment. With these goals, RESPECT contributes to building a society without exclusion and with equality for all young people with disabilities.
The event highlighted the importance of inclusion in sports, the training of coaches, and the empowerment of young people with disabilities through equal participation and accessible opportunities.
🎯 A key moment of the event was the presentation of the “Inclusion Handbook for Young People with Disabilities in Sports Clubs” — a practical tool for promoting accessible and inclusive sports environments.
🏅 The conference brought together key organizations such as the Hellenic Paralympic Committee, EAOM-AMEA, Panathinaikos AO for People with Disabilities, Special Olympics Hellas, Metagnosia Psychotherapy & CBT Center, and the Circle Club team.
Through the combination of sports, technology, and empathy, the event showcased how innovation can truly make a difference for every young person. 💪✨
