Athens, May 2025
From May 5 to 9, 2025, the 4th International Staff Week took place in Alexandroupolis, within the framework of the Consortium of International Credit Mobility of Greek Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) under the Erasmus+ KA171 Programme. The event brought together representatives from universities, institutions, and organisations from across the globe to discuss “The Future of International Mobility and Partnerships & EU-Funded Projects.”
On Tuesday, May 6, KEAN – Cell of Alternative Youth Activities participated in the plenary session, presenting its ongoing European actions in the fields of inclusion, youth empowerment, and sustainability. Alongside the organisation’s broader project portfolio, KEAN highlighted the European initiative GameComp – Green EduGames, an innovative project dedicated to strengthening sustainability competencies among young people through the power of gamified learning.
Presenting GameComp: Game-Based Learning for the Green Transition
During the session, KEAN introduced participants to the core pillars of the GameComp project:
- the Sustainability Competence Assessment Tool, designed to help youth workers identify and develop green skills among young people;
- the library of game-based educational resources, offering interactive and engaging learning experiences on sustainability themes, currently in the piloting phase and being tested with youth workers and young people across partner countries;
- and the Youth Empowerment Toolkit, developed to support youth workers and educators in integrating environmental awareness and green competences into their programmes.
The presentation emphasised the growing need for green skills across Europe and showcased how GameComp provides practical, accessible tools that help youth workers engage young people meaningfully in the green transition.
Strong Interest and Dynamic Exchanges
Participants expressed great interest in the project’s methodology and its potential for implementation within universities and educational institutions worldwide. The discussion highlighted the value of game-based and non-formal learning approaches and the importance of embedding sustainability into international mobility, training, and partnerships.
Strengthening Global Collaboration
KEAN warmly thanks the organisers of the 4th International Staff Week for their excellent coordination and for providing a meaningful platform for dialogue, exchange, and new partnerships. Events like this reinforce the shared commitment of European and international institutions to build more sustainable, inclusive, and forward-thinking educational environments.
