On February 12, 2025, KEAN – Cell of Alternative Youth Activities, in collaboration with OPANDA (Athens Culture, Sports & Youth Organization), organized the conference “Sport & Empowerment of Youth with Disabilities”, as part of the Erasmus+ project RESPECT.
The event highlighted the importance of inclusion in sports, the training of coaches, and the empowerment of young people with disabilities through equal participation and accessible opportunities.
🎯 A key moment of the event was the presentation of the “Inclusion Handbook for Young People with Disabilities in Sports Clubs” — a practical tool for promoting accessible and inclusive sports environments.
🏅 The conference brought together key organizations such as the Hellenic Paralympic Committee, EAOM-AMEA, Panathinaikos AO for People with Disabilities, Special Olympics Hellas, Metagnosia Psychotherapy & CBT Center, and the Circle Club team.
In this inspiring context, KEAN also presented the European project “AI4YW – Artificial Intelligence for Youth Workers,” discussing how AI can support the empowerment and education of neurodiverse and disabled young people. The project’s mission — to build digital literacy and ethical awareness among youth workers — perfectly complemented the conference’s focus on inclusion and empowerment.
Through the combination of sports, technology, and empathy, the event showcased how innovation can truly make a difference for every young person. 💪✨
