From May 5 to 9, 2025, the 4th International Staff Week took place in Alexandroupolis, within the framework of the Consortium of International Credit Mobility of Greek Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) under the Erasmus+ KA171 Programme. The event brought together representatives from universities, institutions, and organisations from across the globe to discuss “The Future of International Mobility and Partnerships & EU-Funded Projects.”
On Tuesday, May 6, KEAN – Cell of Alternative Youth Activities participated in the plenary session, presenting its ongoing European actions in the fields of inclusion, youth empowerment, and sustainability. Alongside the organisation’s broader project portfolio, KEAN highlighted the European initiative GreenHive, an innovative project dedicated to strengthening sustainability education within Vocational Education and Training (VET).
Presenting GreenHive: Building a European Ecosystem for Green Skills
During the session, KEAN introduced participants to the core pillars of the GreenHive project:
- the Green Combs, small internal hubs designed to foster collaboration, green innovation, and sustainability practices within VET institutions;
- the GreenHive Platform, a digital space connecting local hubs across Europe and facilitating knowledge exchange, co-creation, and community-building;
- and the project’s educational resources and toolkit, developed to support trainers, educators, and organisations in integrating environmental awareness and green competences into their programmes.
The presentation emphasised the growing need for green skills across Europe and showcased how GreenHive provides practical, accessible tools that help VET providers navigate the green transition and engage learners in sustainability initiatives.
Strong Interest and Dynamic Exchanges
Participants expressed great interest in the project’s methodology and its potential for implementation within universities and educational institutions worldwide. The discussion highlighted the value of interdisciplinary collaboration and the importance of embedding sustainability into international mobility, training, and partnerships.
Strengthening Global Collaboration
KEAN warmly thanks the organisers of the 4th International Staff Week for their excellent coordination and for providing a meaningful platform for dialogue, exchange, and new partnerships. Events like this reinforce the shared commitment of European and international institutions to build more sustainable, inclusive, and forward-thinking educational environments.
