The aim of the WHISTLE project is to increase knowledge to better understand the phenomenon of verbal sexual harassment (VSH) and verbal abuse (catcalling) in sport, especially in organised sport. Through this project, training is provided to professionals in sports clubs, women's associations and local authorities, giving them tools to identify the problem and take appropriate measures to support victims of verbal sexual harassment.

These activities are directly targeted at 150+ women, who participate in pilot empowerment activities and share stories. A creative awareness campaign on the impact of catcalling on women's participation in sport is being strategically developed to influence the wider group of men, coaches, sports professionals, managers and fans.

The basic effect can be maintained in the WAS COUNSELING SYSTEMS (WAS) set up in 30+ sports clubs: here women can find the right support, react and deal with the verbal sexual harassment that can occur. WAS will continue after the end of the project in collaboration with stakeholders and will contribute in the long term to ensuring more equal participation in sport and physical activity.
