Summary

The SOS Centers project , funded by the European Union's Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme, addresses the prevention and fight against domestic violence in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which changed children's lives. In order to strengthen children's capacity to report domestic violence and seek support, the project sets the following objectives:

1. Strengthening early detection, reporting and support mechanisms for (potential) victims through the creation of SOS centres in nine (9) schools and two (2) children's sports clubs that will have a positive impact on 1,400 children.

2. Upgrading the capacity of 140 actors and related professionals to detect and address domestic violence.

3. Strengthening at EU level the participation of children in the prevention and treatment of domestic violence.

Actions:

1. Establishment of SOS centres in each of the schools or sports clubs with which the project partners cooperate. The centres will include specialised teachers, school counsellors, coaches. The centres will provide training for children, organise awareness-raising initiatives and create opportunities for children to access procedures and protocols for reporting violence.

2. Organization of four (4) workshops in the partner countries for approximately one hundred (100) representatives of institutions and organizations (educational, social, health, police, NGOs, etc.) responsible for the well-being of children, in order to enrich their knowledge on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on children and to strengthen the cooperation of organizations on issues related to the prevention and early detection of domestic violence.

3. Organization of four (4) trainings for 40-60 professionals (teachers, school counsellors, etc.) to be trained in the creation of SOS centres, in the use of methodology for conducting sessions for children for early detection and reporting of violence and in helping young people to organize peer awareness initiatives on the issue.

4. Training of the heads of the partners in each country who will be involved in setting up the SOS centres and organising their activities.

5. Development of a manual for conducting three (3) sessions with children aimed at changing their attitudes towards violence.

6. Training 400 children from Bulgaria, Greece, Italy and Portugal in recognising violence and learning about the activities of SOS centres and school channels for reporting violence.

7. Organise a peer-to-peer awareness-raising initiative on the new possibilities of reporting violence and seeking support in the school environment.

8. Creating multimedia on the topic - short videos, video games, comics, etc. and disseminating them through YouTube and social media of the project partners.

9. Impact assessment of the project activities.

10. Dissemination of project activities and results.
