Participating countries: turkey, greece, italy, spain
Summary
KEAN implemented the Educational Programme ‘LAUGH – Learn Accept Unite to Grow your Horizons,’ which is part of the ‘Learning Mobility of People – Youth Mobility’ programme under the EU Erasmus+ framework, supported by the Foundation for Lifelong Learning.
The project consisted of two components – a training seminar held in Athens from 16 to 22 March 2017, and a youth exchange programme held on the island of Lesvos from 16 to 22 June 2017.
The project involved KEAN – Centre for Alternative Youth Research, which was also responsible for the design, organisation, and coordination of the programme, as well as the organisations JOINT from Italy, S&G from Turkey, and KEAN “ACTIVIDADES ALTERNATIVAS” from Spain.
The aim of the programme was to disseminate and promote values and raise public awareness about migrants, combat discrimination, eliminate prejudice, stereotypes, and xenophobia, foster intercultural dialogue, promote and support respect, social and cultural diversity, strengthen active citizenship, encourage intercultural and socially active participation, and ultimately develop solidarity and tolerance among people.”
Project outputs:
Through this programme, participants gained knowledge about the needs and challenges faced by refugees, migration policies in Greece and other European countries, and the causes that foster conflict and establish stereotypes and prejudices. Furthermore, they actively participated in a variety of activities, including presentations, discussions, workshops, visits, events, artistic activities, role-playing games, group work, and exchanged ideas, proposals, and good practices.
The ultimate goal of the project was to create tools that contribute to public awareness, in particular:
-an awareness-raising campaign against racism
-an open photography exhibition
